Extruding – Crafting the Essence of Artificial Grass

At the core of any artificial grass system lies the yarn, a crucial component that directly influences performance and lifespan. At Arturf, we take this aspect seriously. Our yarn is meticulously crafted using premium-grade resin pellets, which are melted down to form the foundation of our artificial grass yarns. During this crucial extrusion process, we incorporate top-quality UV inhibitors and other additives that enhance the longevity of our synthetic grass products. These features become an inherent part of the grass, ensuring that they never fade or wash away over time. Through the art of extrusion, we bring our resins to life, transforming them into resilient and durable yarns.

Tufting – Weaving Excellence into Every Thread

Once the artificial grass yarns are complete, they undergo the tufting process to create a robust backing. This backing, made from woven fabric or cloth, forms the foundation of the synthetic grass.

During tufting, the artificial grass yarns or bundles of filaments are meticulously woven into the backing, forming loops. A specialized needle, akin to a large sewing needle, pushes through the backing, intertwining with the yarns to create loops or piles. These loops are then precisely cut, resulting in individual grass piles. In our tufting production lines, we employ cutting-edge machinery equipped with over 1000 needles per row, varying based on the width of the grass carpet and the desired pile intensity. At Arturf’s artificial grass factory, we take pride in our advanced tufting production lines, staffed by experienced professionals with more than six years of expertise.

Coating – Securing Quality for Optimal Performance

After the tufting process, it is essential to firmly secure the artificial grass yarns to the backing, preventing any chance of them dislodging during usage.

In the third step, we apply latex or polyurethane to the backside of the backing, ensuring a strong bond between the yarns and the backing, while also providing added rigidity.

The latex or polyurethane is initially in a liquid state, akin to glue, when applied to the carpet. However, during the coating process, it hardens, reinforcing the carpet and firmly securing the grass piles. To facilitate efficient drainage, small holes are meticulously punched into the grass carpet, enabling water to flow off the surface and into the underlying soil, even during heavy rainfall. While these drainage holes remain invisible, they play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the artificial grass system.
